New Delhi, April 24: In a significant boost for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), captain Pat Cummins is confirmed to play against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 36th match of IPL 2026 this Saturday. Cummins has fully recovered from his injury and is ready to take the field.
This match marks Cummins’ first appearance in IPL 2026. The Australian Test captain passed his fitness test on Friday and announced his return via a post on Instagram, expressing his eagerness to play, stating, “I’ve been waiting for a long time, can’t wait to be back tomorrow (Saturday).”
Cummins arrived in India before the start of IPL 2026 but missed matches due to injury. The 32-year-old had to return to Australia for a back scan right after SRH’s thrilling victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 2. He has not played any matches since the Ashes series against England and was also absent from the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where Australia faced an early exit in the group stage.
During Cummins’ absence, SRH made several changes to their fast bowling lineup. After experimenting with Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat in the initial matches, they included Praful Hinge and Saqib Hussain in the playing eleven. Both made a significant impact, taking four wickets each in their debut match against Rajasthan Royals.
Ishan Kishan has been leading the team in Cummins’ absence. So far in IPL 2026, SRH has won 4 out of 7 matches, while suffering defeats in 3. Their last match saw them secure a 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals.
