Pat Cummins Becomes Second in All-Time Wicket Takers as Captain in IPL

Chennai, May 18: Pat Cummins has made history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the second-highest wicket-taker as a captain. On Monday, during a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), claimed three wickets, bringing his total to 42 as a captain.

Shane Warne leads the list with 57 wickets, while Hardik Pandya follows in third place with 40 wickets. Anil Kumble ranks fourth with 30 wickets, and Ravichandran Ashwin rounds out the top five with 20 wickets.

In the match held in Chennai, CSK scored 180 runs, losing seven wickets in their allotted overs. They lost two wickets for just 48 runs before captain Ruturaj Gaikwad partnered with Kartik Sharma to add 42 runs for the third wicket.

CSK struggled further, losing four wickets by the time they reached 100 runs. Dewald Brevis then teamed up with Shivam Dube to score 59 runs for the fifth wicket off just 38 balls, putting the team in a strong position.

Dewald scored 44 runs off 27 balls, hitting four sixes and two fours, while Dube contributed 26 runs. Kartik Tyagi added 32 runs from 19 balls, hitting five boundaries. Cummins was the standout bowler for SRH, taking three wickets, while Saqib Hussain claimed two.

Currently, Sunrisers Hyderabad holds the third position in the points table with seven wins out of 12 matches, whereas Chennai Super Kings are in fifth place with six wins from their 12 games.
