Pakistan: FIA ordered to prevent officials from leaving country without NoC

Islamabad, April 10 : The staff of the security and Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) immigration have been put on high alert with a directive to stop any government official from travelling abroad without a No-Objection Certificate (NoC), according to a senior FIA official, Dawn reported on Sunday. This move has some in the wake of Asad Qaiser resigning as speaker of the National Assembly late on Saturday night even as the process of voting on the no-confidence motion against prime minister Imran Khan got underway. The Airport Security Force has also been put on high alert and checking of passengers travelling abroad has been intensified. The FIA and airport officials said they had received directives to remain alert and prevent any government official from leaving the country without an NoC. The security in the garrison city of Rawalpindi has also been beefed up. ACL0948
