Padma Shri Award for Dr. Anil Rastogi: A Lifetime of Art and Service

Lucknow: Renowned actor and veteran theatre artist Dr. Anil Rastogi has been honoured with the Padma Shri award for his outstanding contributions to acting and theatre over several decades. Active in films, web series, and theatre, Dr. Rastogi has earned widespread recognition for his dedication to the arts as well as his social service.

Expressing his gratitude on receiving the Padma Shri in 2026, Dr. Rastogi said, “It is a proud moment for me. I have received many awards before, including honours from the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. I sincerely thank the Government of India for recognising and appreciating my work with the Padma Shri.”

Dr. Rastogi, who has a background in science and formerly worked as a scientist at the Central Drug Research Institute, shared insights into his extensive career. “I have been involved in the arts for 64 years and have completed my 100th play. I believe I am unique in having worked across all four major art forms – radio, theatre, television, and film. From crime shows to daily soaps, I have performed in over 500 episodes of crime series and also appeared in films and OTT platforms,” he stated.

Beyond his artistic achievements, Dr. Rastogi is deeply committed to social welfare. Along with his brother, he runs the Hariom Seva Kendra, an organisation dedicated to helping the poor and needy with medical assistance. For the past 27 years, the centre has provided expensive injections, blood supplies, ambulance services, and dialysis kits free of cost to those in need.

Dr. Anil Rastogi’s journey reflects not only a stellar artistic legacy but also a heartfelt dedication to serving society, making him a true hero both on and off the stage.
