Hyderabad, March 6: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly criticized the U.S. Navy’s recent action of sinking an Iranian warship near Indian waters. He urged the Indian government to clarify its stance and condemn the American operation.
Owaisi took to social media platform X to express his concerns, stating, “There are many unanswered questions regarding the sinking of the Iranian vessel by the U.S. Navy so close to Indian waters. The government should provide answers, but both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister remain silent. This neglects their constitutional responsibility towards our citizens.”
The Hyderabad MP demanded clarification from the government on whether the Trump administration had informed India before targeting the Iranian ship. He questioned, “Did the Trump administration notify the Indian government before deciding to use a nuclear submarine so close to Indian waters and escalate the war zone? After all, we are also a member of the Quad and a strategic partner of the U.S.”
He further asked, “If this sets a precedent for the Chinese Navy to operate in these waters, will the Modi government still remain silent?”
In another post, Owaisi wrote, “If the U.S. repeats such actions against the two other Iranian ships nearby, will the government continue to behave like an ostrich with its head in the sand?”
Owaisi added, “This undermines India’s long-standing reputation for strategic sovereignty and could render us irrelevant on global platforms.” He called for the government to explicitly condemn this incident and hold a press conference to clarify its position regarding the U.S. attack on Iran.
