
Beijing, February 24: A recent survey conducted by CGTN highlights that over 90% of respondents recognize China’s significant contribution to global poverty reduction. In 2021, China declared a “complete victory” in its battle against poverty, setting a five-year transitional period for further development. During this time, the country focused on fostering leading industries in 832 extremely impoverished districts, strengthening the foundation for poverty alleviation.
The survey found that 93.5% of participants believe China’s success in poverty alleviation has played a crucial role in reducing global poverty. Additionally, 89.5% of respondents noted that China’s victory not only addressed material poverty but also promoted progress in ideological thinking, lifestyle, and grassroots governance.
As the world’s largest developing country, China has achieved significant economic transformation alongside massive poverty reduction, accelerating the global poverty alleviation process.
Respondents strongly endorsed the fundamental principles behind China’s poverty alleviation story. A remarkable 92.9% agreed that a people-centered development philosophy is the driving force behind poverty alleviation in China. Furthermore, 85.8% believe that poverty alleviation is fundamentally a development issue, with development being the most effective solution to poverty.
Moreover, 90.5% stated that China’s robust organizational structure and highly efficient operational mechanisms have been key to effectively coordinating and integrating efforts from all stakeholders in the fight against poverty.
