
New Delhi, May 20: Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that over 8.5 million developers are using the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) models each month to create applications.
In a recent blog post, Pichai revealed that Google plans to invest $190 billion in AI infrastructure this year, focusing on AI data centers, custom silicon, and model training.
He noted that the company is witnessing rapid growth in its AI ecosystem, with increasing demand from developers, enterprises, and consumers.
According to Google, its model APIs are now processing approximately 19 billion tokens per minute. Over the past year, more than 375 Google Cloud customers have processed over one trillion tokens each.
Highlighting the rising usage of Google’s AI products, Pichai mentioned that the number of monthly active users for the Gemini app has surpassed 900 million, more than double compared to the previous year. AI-driven search is also gaining immense popularity, with over 2.5 billion monthly users for AI Overview and more than one billion monthly active users for AI Mode.
The company has introduced several new AI tools and upgrades, including Gemini 3.5 Flash, a fast AI model focused on coding and real-world workflows, and Gemini Spark, a new personal AI agent designed to act on behalf of users.
Google has rolled out multiple updates to its AI infrastructure, including the latest generation of Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), which help accelerate large-scale AI training and inference processes.
Pichai emphasized Google’s commitment to its AI-first strategy, describing AI as the most transformative technology to advance the company’s mission and improve lives globally.
