Over 5 Million Pilgrims Visit Mata Vaishno Devi Temple in 2026

Jammu, June 23: This year, over 5 million pilgrims have visited the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Temple located in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) reported that the number of pilgrims surpassed the 5 million mark on June 22. As of now, a total of 5.07 million devotees have undertaken the sacred pilgrimage to seek blessings from Mata Vaishno Devi.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy compared to the same period last year. In 2025, approximately 3.98 million pilgrims visited the shrine, while this year has seen a record of 5.07 million, reflecting an impressive increase of 1.08 million devotees.
The significant rise in pilgrim numbers is a testament to the unwavering faith and devotion of visitors from across the country and abroad towards this holy site.
The continuous growth in the number of pilgrims also highlights the coordinated efforts of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and all stakeholders involved in travel management, reinforcing the trust of the devotees.
Under the leadership of Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Shrine Board has implemented extensive measures to ensure a smooth, safe, and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees. Improvements in infrastructure, accommodation facilities, sanitation, crowd management systems, health services, battery car operations, ropeway services, disaster management preparations, and digital initiatives have significantly enhanced the convenience and overall service delivery for pilgrims.
Officials noted that surpassing the 5 million mark at this stage of the year indicates the growing enthusiasm among devotees. This is a positive sign for the continued progress of pilgrimages in the remaining months of the year, especially during the festive season.
