Uttarkashi, June 7: The enthusiasm for the sacred Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is steadily increasing. Particularly, the number of devotees visiting Gangotri and Yamunotri is reaching new heights. According to the District Emergency Operation Center, as of Saturday evening, the total number of pilgrims visiting both shrines has reached 1,055,114.
On Saturday alone, 19,287 devotees visited the two shrines, with 8,785 at Yamunotri and 10,502 at Gangotri. Since the start of the pilgrimage, a total of 516,206 pilgrims have visited Yamunotri, while Gangotri has welcomed 538,908 visitors.
With the rising number of pilgrims, vehicle movement continues to be robust. On Saturday, a total of 1,982 vehicles operated to both shrines. Since the beginning of the journey, 103,215 vehicles have reached the holy sites.
Given the challenging ascent to Yamunotri, many pilgrims are utilizing traditional means of transport such as horses, mules, and palanquins. On Saturday, 1,705 travelers availed themselves of these services. Since the journey commenced, a total of 92,257 pilgrims have used these facilities.
The administration is also vigilant regarding the health of the travelers. The health department is conducting continuous screenings and checks. On Saturday, 5,642 pilgrims underwent health screenings, and 564 were tested for health issues. Since the start of the yatra, a total of 324,987 pilgrims have been screened, and 27,529 have been tested.
The district administration has confirmed that the Char Dham Yatra is operating smoothly. All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety, health, and convenience of the pilgrims.
