Oppo Reno 16 Series Leak Reveals Dimensity 8500 Chip and 200MP Camera

Just months after the launch of the Reno 15 series in China last November, early details about the upcoming Oppo Reno 16 lineup have started to emerge. Oppo typically updates the Reno series every six months, so the timing aligns with expectations.

According to the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Reno 16 series is currently in the testing phase in China. This stage usually indicates that the internal hardware specifications are mostly finalised, even though the official launch may still be weeks away. If Oppo follows its usual schedule, the Reno 16 series could be unveiled around May.

Expected Specifications of Oppo Reno 16

The new Reno 16 models are expected to maintain flat displays in multiple sizes, similar to the Reno 15 series which featured a compact 6.32-inch and a larger 6.78-inch screen. Oppo is likely to continue offering these screen sizes with the Reno 16 lineup.

In terms of camera capabilities, the Reno 16 series is said to include a 200MP main sensor as standard, accompanied by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. While the megapixel count remains similar to that of the Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro, Oppo may introduce an updated camera sensor for improved image quality.

Powering the devices is expected to be the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 series chipset, which supports efficient performance suitable for daily use.

Design-wise, leaks suggest the phones will feature a metal frame with uniformly slim bezels on all sides. Oppo aims to deliver an ultra-thin and lightweight design, focusing on comfort and ease of handling rather than bulkier hardware.

Though Oppo has not officially confirmed these details, the ongoing testing and the probable mid-year launch suggest that more information about the Reno 16 series will be revealed soon.
