Sleek Design with Durable Build

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is notably slimmer than its predecessor, measuring just 8.78mm in thickness, down from 9.5mm, while maintaining a sturdy build with IP68 dust and water resistance and IP69 for water jets. Oppo claims SGS five-star drop resistance, further improving its durability. The phone comes in three color variants: Matte Black, Pure White, and Shell Pink, with smooth matte surfaces on both the metal rails and glass panels.

The 6.82-inch LTPO OLED display boasts 2K resolution (3168 x 1440 pixels), with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, and 1600 nits peak brightness. Additionally, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass for durability.

Impressive Performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC

At the heart of the Oppo Find X8 Ultra lies the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. The device runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15, and supports a 100W SUPERVOOC wired and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, as well as 10W reverse wireless charging. It houses a 6,100mAh battery to power through the day.

One of the standout features of the Find X8 Ultra is the addition of new physical controls, including a Shortcut button and a Quick button for camera functions. The Quick button serves as a dedicated camera control for immediate access to the camera app, enhancing the user experience for photography enthusiasts.

Camera Upgrades: Dual 50MP Periscope Zoom Lenses

Oppo has placed a strong focus on photography with the Find X8 Ultra, improving its camera system significantly. The device includes a 50MP main sensor (Sony LYT900) with f/1.8 aperture, which remains unchanged from its predecessor. However, the real upgrade comes with the dual periscope zoom cameras, both significantly improved:

  • 3x periscope zoom with a 50MP LYT700 sensor and a brighter f/2.1 lens.

  • 6x periscope zoom with a 50MP LYT600 sensor and a brighter f/3.1 lens.

These improvements result in better zoom capabilities and more vibrant images at higher levels of magnification. The ultrawide camera has been slightly downgraded, now featuring a 15mm f/2.0 lens with a 1/2.75-inch Samsung JN5 sensor, but still delivers impressive results. The phone also boasts a True Chroma camera for more accurate skin tones and overall color accuracy in varied lighting.

The HyperTone Image Engine powers the deviceโ€™s computational abilities, offering better performance in challenging lighting conditions. With features like AI tone mapping and the ProXDR engine, the Find X8 Ultra improves brightness and color information, offering a richer photographic experience.

Video and Photography: Enhanced Capabilities

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra supports 4K slow-mo at 120fps, with Dolby Vision compatibility, ensuring stunning video quality. For still photography, it offers the โ€œHoly Trinityโ€ of lensesโ€”main, telephoto, and ultra-wideโ€”making it a formidable device for photo and video enthusiasts alike.

Conclusion: A Flagship to Look Out For

The Oppo Find X8 Ultra is undoubtedly shaping up to be one of the most powerful smartphones of 2025. With its flagship specifications, enhanced camera system, and impressive battery, the device is poised to compete with the best in the market. However, the bad news is that the device is unlikely to be available outside of China, which might limit its global reach.
