Operation Sindoor Showcases Indian Army’s Valor, Mission Sudarshan Chakra Underway: President Murmu

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu, addressing the joint session of Parliament, highlighted the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a clear demonstration of the Indian Army’s courage and capability. She expressed confidence that the day is not far when terrorism will be completely eradicated from the country.

The President stated that India has destroyed terrorist bases using its own resources, sending a strong message that any terrorist attack on the nation will be met with a firm and decisive response. She also mentioned that the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty is part of the country’s fight against terrorism.

Referring to ‘Operation Sindoor’, President Murmu said that this operation has strengthened global trust in India’s ‘Made in India’ defence platforms. Defence production crossed ₹1.5 lakh crore in 2025, while defence exports exceeded ₹23,000 crore, marking significant progress in the country’s defence capabilities.

President Murmu further noted that her government is working on Mission Sudarshan Chakra to reinforce the nation’s defence system. The security forces have also taken decisive action against Maoist terrorists, aligning with government policies.

She highlighted the transformation in Maoist-affected regions, where insecurity and fear once prevailed across 126 districts. Now, the challenge has reduced to eight districts, with only three seriously impacted. Over the past year, around two thousand Maoists have surrendered, bringing peace to millions.

The President shared examples of positive change, such as a village in Bijapur receiving a bus after 26 years, celebrated joyfully by its residents, and young people from Bastar actively participating in the Olympics. Former militants are now engaged in community service.

President Murmu affirmed that the government is ensuring the rehabilitation of those who have laid down arms and rejoined mainstream society, reiterating that complete elimination of terrorism is within reach. She quoted Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, emphasizing that true freedom is incomplete without self-reliance.

The President praised ongoing efforts to make India self-reliant, with ‘Make in India’ products reaching various global markets and generating enthusiasm among citizens for indigenous goods.

She also highlighted a milestone in gender empowerment, mentioning the recent passing out of the first batch of women cadets from the National Defence Academy (NDA), calling it a significant achievement showcasing women’s vital role in the country’s development and strength.
