Jaipur, October 19 (Daily Kiran): A tragic LPG cylinder explosion at a restaurant in Kishangarh-Renwal area of Jaipur Rural district on Sunday evening claimed one life and left two others injured. The powerful blast caused two successive explosions, triggering a fire and collapsing a part of the two-storey building.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Devendra Chawla, the incident occurred near the railway crossing where a restaurant operated on the ground floor and a sweet-making factory functioned on the upper floor of the same building. As sweets and food were being prepared for Diwali, the cylinder on the first floor exploded, causing the roof to partially collapse.
The impact of the blast was so strong that debris from the building was scattered up to 30 feet away, and the balcony wall fell onto the road. A worker at the sweet factory, Kishan Kumar (32), a resident of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, fell from the first floor and was buried under the debris. Two other men standing nearby were also trapped under the rubble.
The Renwal Police, assisted by SDRF and fire brigade teams, launched a rescue operation to pull out the trapped individuals. Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control after extensive efforts.
Rescue teams recovered Anuj and Divansh, who were eating snacks near the restaurant, from the debris in critical condition. Both were rushed to a hospital, with Anuj later shifted to SMS Hospital, Jaipur, for advanced treatment.
Later, rescuers found Kishan Kumar severely injured under the rubble. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Police said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the cylinder blast.
