Kota, May 9: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized the need for all departmental officials to adopt a solution-oriented approach towards governance. During a review meeting with police, district administration, municipal corporation, and Kota Development Authority officials at the Command Area Development Auditorium, he instructed them to ensure timely resolution of public complaints and accountability at every level.
Birla stated that the goal of governance is not merely to operate offices but to instill confidence among citizens that their voices are heard, respected, and acted upon promptly. He urged all departments to work within set timelines to simplify, enhance transparency, and improve efficiency in complaint resolution systems.
He directed officials to strengthen drinking water infrastructure and expedite ongoing water supply projects. Additionally, he instructed municipal officials to ensure that birth and death certificates are delivered directly to citizens’ homes. All applications related to these certificates should be processed within a maximum of 48 hours.
Birla also highlighted the need for special camps and surveys in rural areas to identify individuals, particularly from nomadic communities, who are deprived of government documents and benefits from government schemes.
Stressing the importance of an effective monitoring mechanism for citizen complaints, he directed area-wise sanitation inspectors to conduct regular inspections and ensure immediate action on sanitation, drainage, electricity, and other civic amenities. He also instructed the establishment of sub-offices of the municipal corporation in areas like Kaithoon, where teams related to water, electricity, sanitation, and other public services will be available to citizens.
Furthermore, he recommended that officers of the rank of deputy commissioner hold weekly meetings in these offices to address the issues faced by residents in rural and remote areas. While reviewing the operations of the Kota Development Authority, Birla ordered the formation of special patrol teams to control encroachments and instructed officials to remove illegal encroachments immediately.
