New Delhi, May 2: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has made key appointments for the heads of important parliamentary committees. KC Venugopal has been reappointed as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, while BJP’s Baijayant Panda has been designated as the Chairperson of the Public Sector Undertakings Committee.
According to an official notification, Om Birla has appointed Congress MP KC Venugopal as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee for the term 2026-27. Similarly, Baijayant Panda has been appointed as the Chairman of the Public Sector Undertakings Committee for the same term.
The Public Accounts Committee will consist of 21 members, including 15 from the Lok Sabha and 6 from the Rajya Sabha, with the term starting on May 1, 2026, and concluding on April 30, 2027.
From the Lok Sabha, the members include T.R. Balu, Kalyan Banerjee, Nishikant Dubey, Jagdambika Pal, Jai Prakash, Ravi Shankar Prasad, C.M. Ramesh, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Aparajita Sarangi, Amar Singh, Tejasvi Surya, Anurag Singh Thakur, Balashowry Vallabhaneni, KC Venugopal, and Dharmendra Yadav. The Rajya Sabha members include Ashok Rao Shankarrao Chavan, K. Lakshman, Praful Patel, Sukendu Shekhar Ray, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, and Sudhanshu Trivedi.
The Public Sector Undertakings Committee will have a total of 22 members, comprising 15 from the Lok Sabha and 7 from the Rajya Sabha.
Additionally, Lok Sabha Speaker has appointed BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste as the Chairman of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Committee, which will have 30 members—20 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.
Om Birla has also formed a Budget Committee for one year, with BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal as its Chairman. This committee will also consist of 30 members, including 20 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.
