Old Age Pension Not Credited? Don’t Worry – Get These Steps Done to Resume Your Pension

DISTRICT UPDATE, April 16, 2025 — If your old age pension has stopped coming, there’s no need to panic. The Social Welfare Department has clarified that the interruption in pension disbursement for many elderly citizens is due to pending e-KYC and NPCI linking of their bank accounts. Once completed, the pension amount will resume in their accounts without delay.

What’s Causing the Delay in Pension?

According to official data, there are 64,000 old age pension beneficiaries in the district. While 50,000 beneficiaries have already received their installment this month, around 12,665 elderly individuals have been left out due to incomplete account formalities.

  • e-KYC Not Completed

  • Bank Account Not Linked to NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India)

Without fulfilling these conditions, the system is unable to process or transfer the monthly pension amount, which is ₹1,000 per month.

What Should You Do to Resume Pension?

If you or someone you know is facing this issue, here are the simple steps to follow:

  1. Visit the nearest CSC (Common Service Center) or bank branch.

  2. Complete e-KYC using Aadhaar and biometric authentication.

  3. Visit your respective bank and link your Aadhaar-based account with NPCI.

  4. Keep the receipt or confirmation slip from the bank as proof.

  5. Inform the Social Welfare Department if needed.

Why Is NPCI Linking Important?

NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) enables direct benefit transfers (DBT) like pensions, subsidies, and other government financial support directly into your Aadhaar-linked bank account. If your account isn’t linked, the government can’t credit the amount.

District Social Welfare Officer Ramnagini Yadav confirmed, “After completing e-KYC, it is mandatory for beneficiaries to visit their bank and ensure that their Aadhaar-linked bank account is connected with NPCI. Only then will their pension resume.”

Key Reminders for Pensioners:

  • Pensioners must not open a new account unless advised—just update the existing one.

  • Carry Aadhaar card and passbook when visiting the bank.

  • Complete this process early to avoid missing future installments.
