Noida, May 15: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the police of Gautam Buddh Nagar, along with the Narcotics team, have arrested a suspect involved in the illegal drug trade. Authorities seized 430 grams of hashish and a car used for trafficking during a joint operation.
The estimated market value of the confiscated hashish is around ₹1.15 lakh. According to police officials, the Face-1 police station and the Narcotics team had been receiving continuous tips about individuals supplying illegal substances in Noida and surrounding areas. Acting on this information, the joint team initiated a checking campaign targeting suspicious vehicles and individuals.
On Friday, May 15, near the Jhundpura border in Sector 8, the police stopped a white Maruti Suzuki Celerio for inspection. During the search, they discovered 430 grams of illegal hashish in the vehicle. The driver, identified as Kunal Boddh, son of Dorje Boddh, was arrested on the spot.
The suspect, aged 23, hails from Surad village in the Bhuntar police jurisdiction of Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district. During initial questioning, police are attempting to gather information about the source of the hashish and the individuals to whom he supplied it in Noida.
Authorities are also on the lookout for other individuals connected to this network. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Face-1 police station in Noida. Police officials are investigating the suspect’s criminal history, and the seized vehicle has been impounded as it was used for transporting illegal drugs.
