Srinagar, March 3 : Former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said the on government’s move to form Village Defence Committees(VDC) across Jammu and Kashmir contradicts it’s claims about normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. “MHAs (Ministry of Home Affairs) move to form Village Defence Committees across J&K is another addition to a slew of decisions that contradict GOIs (Government of India) much touted normalcy claims. Clearly J&K is far from any semblance of normalcy. It will also create a wedge between comm ties,” Mehbooba tweeted. She was reacting to the reports that the on government has ordered formation of village defence groups that were earlier known as village defence committees. VDCs were set up in the 1990s in militancy-prone areas in Jammu region to defend the respective villages and areas against militant attacks. MJR RKM
