No Crisis in Religion, Says TMC MP in Response to RSS Chiefs Remarks

Kolkata, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Kolkata’s All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) MP Sougata Roy has reacted to statements made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, asserting that the real crisis is not in religion but with organizations like the RSS.

In an interview, Roy remarked, “This is his opinion. There is no crisis in religion; rather, the threat comes from organizations like the RSS.” Bhagwat had previously suggested that if religion is in crisis, the nation would also suffer. He stated, “If the nation becomes weak, religion will be in crisis, and if religious conduct weakens, the nation will decline.”

Roy also addressed the situation involving Indian pilot Smrit Machhar, who saved a plane by risking his life. He questioned how the co-pilot, who attacked the aircraft, was selected, suggesting there might have been a lapse in security checks.

On Machhar’s admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Roy said, “That’s a good thing. I don’t want to politicize Smrit Machhar. The Prime Minister called him, which is commendable and should be appreciated.”

Regarding leadership changes in the Punjab Congress, Roy noted that internal issues had been brewing for some time. With elections approaching next year, he praised the appointment of Parghat Singh as the head of the Punjab unit, highlighting his experience as a current MLA and former captain of the Indian hockey team.

Lastly, Roy dismissed the significance of Humayun Kabir’s recent visit to Delhi, stating, “I have heard his remarks. Humayun Kabir’s trip holds no importance.”
