Nitish Rana Shines with 28 Runs in One Over Against PBKS

New Delhi, April 25: In the 35th match of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) faced off against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. Nitish Rana made headlines by scoring 28 runs off the over bowled by PBKS fast bowler Javier Bartlett, hitting boundaries on all six deliveries.

Captain Shreyas Iyer entrusted Bartlett with the responsibility of bowling the 12th over of DC’s innings. Rana kicked off the over with a powerful six, followed by two consecutive fours that helped him reach his half-century in just 29 balls. He sent the third and fourth balls over the boundary as well, concluding the over with another six. This remarkable feat made Rana the joint fourth player from DC to score 28 runs in a single over, joining the ranks of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Jack Fraser-McGurk.

Rana and KL Rahul also set a record for the highest partnership without losing a wicket in this match, surpassing the previous record held by Virender Sehwag and David Warner, who had a partnership of 146 runs in 2011. Despite winning the toss and opting to bat first, DC had a rocky start, losing Pathum Nissanka for just 11 runs.

Both teams maintained their playing elevens without any changes for this match. DC’s captain Axar Patel won the toss for the ninth consecutive time, placing the team at the top of the list for the most toss wins in IPL history, now tied with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who also won nine consecutive tosses.

So far this season, DC has played six matches, winning three and losing three. In their last match, they faced a 47-run defeat against SRH, who posted 242 runs for 2 wickets in their 20 overs, while DC managed only 195 runs for 9 wickets.
