Patna, May 6: Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an unexpected visit to the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) headquarters, Karpoori Bhawan, in Patna on Tuesday evening, just before the anticipated cabinet expansion in Bihar.
According to party sources, leaders were informed of his arrival only after he left his official residence. Upon his arrival, party workers and leaders present at the office warmly welcomed him.
During the visit, Nitish Kumar engaged in discussions with party workers and held informal talks. Senior leader and former minister Ashok Chaudhary was also present at the event.
JD(U) MLC Sanjay Gandhi stated that such visits are not unusual. He mentioned that the former Chief Minister has personally overseen the development of the party office and frequently visits to review its operations.
Gandhi noted that previously, Kumar would visit as Chief Minister; today, he came as a party leader to connect with the workers. They were not informed in advance of his visit. Whenever he comes, he reviews every detail and ensures that the systems he established are functioning properly.
He further added that Nitish Kumar regularly discusses organizational strategies and engages with party workers to strengthen the party.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the grand cabinet expansion ceremony scheduled for May 7 at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Extensive administrative and security arrangements have been made for the event.
Top national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Nitish Kumar, and several senior NDA leaders, are expected to attend. Additionally, Chief Ministers from various states and Union Ministers may also be present, making it a significant political gathering.
The cabinet expansion had previously been delayed due to assembly elections in several states. However, following victories in these elections, the NDA has gained renewed energy and aims to make the oath-taking ceremony a crucial display of strength.
