Mumbai, April 4: At a public rally held in Sribhumi, Assam, BJP National President Nitin Naveen asserted on Saturday that the BJP-NDA coalition is poised for victory. He emphasized that the large turnout at the rally signals a strong mandate for the BJP in Assam, indicating that the party will receive the people’s full support.
Nitin Naveen highlighted that over the past decade, the BJP government has made significant strides in both the development and preservation of Assam’s rich heritage. He criticized the previous Congress regime, stating that during their rule, people struggled for basic necessities like bread, faced a lack of job opportunities, and saw inadequate protection for women and land. This dissatisfaction led the people of Assam to oust Congress from power.
He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, both the country and Assam are advancing rapidly in development. The state has made remarkable progress in various sectors, including roads, electricity, and employment.
Referring to the Barak Valley, Nitin Naveen remarked that the area once suffered from neglect and discrimination, but conditions have since improved. He mentioned that the East-West Corridor has accelerated development in the region, bringing essential services closer to the residents.
Nitin Naveen also discussed the initiatives of both the central and state governments. He revealed that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 2.2 million poor families in Assam have received permanent housing, with a target to construct an additional 1.5 million homes in the future.
Furthermore, the Orunodoi scheme will now provide beneficiaries with a monthly assistance of ₹3,000. He stated that the government is consistently working to improve the living standards of the poor by facilitating housing.
The Orunodoi scheme is a key welfare initiative by the Assam government aimed at providing direct financial assistance to impoverished families.
On the topic of women’s empowerment, he mentioned that under the leadership of PM Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government is committed to making mothers and sisters self-reliant. Various programs are being implemented to ensure their safety, dignity, and economic strength.
Addressing employment issues, the BJP National President stated that the government aims to provide jobs to 200,000 youth. Additionally, a plan has been devised to offer financial support of up to ₹500,000 to new entrepreneurs.
He criticized the previous UPA government for failing to construct proper roads, arguing that they claimed road development would lead to increased foreign infiltration. In contrast, the current government has built solid roads up to the China border, ensuring that no country dares to encroach on Indian territory.
The Assam Assembly elections will take place in a single phase, with voting scheduled for April 9, as announced by the Election Commission of India.
