Patna, March 7: The political landscape in Bihar is heating up following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to enter the Rajya Sabha and the anticipated political debut of his son, Nishant Kumar. Nishant is expected to join the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] on March 8. Prior to this, he met with senior party leaders on Saturday.
During this meeting, Moni Singh, a member of the JD(U) Political Advisory Committee, confirmed that Nishant Kumar will officially join the party on March 8. Preparations for his welcome are already underway, with posters being put up across Patna. Singh expressed that there is considerable excitement among the party members, believing that Nishant’s entry will strengthen the party.
On Friday night, Nishant Kumar visited the residence of the party’s National Executive President, Sanjay Kumar Jha, where he held discussions with young legislators and senior leaders. Reports suggest that the meeting focused on organizational strategies and government initiatives, as well as the challenges of continuing Nitish Kumar’s governance style. Several young legislators voiced their opinions during this gathering.
Within the JD(U), there are discussions about Nishant Kumar’s future role in shaping party strategy, strengthening the organization, and engaging youth. Following Nitish Kumar’s nomination for the Rajya Sabha, there was significant unrest within the party, with many workers gathering in Patna to demand a reconsideration of his decision.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Nitish Kumar held a meeting with party legislators, MPs, MLCs, and senior leaders, where he outlined his vision. This meeting solidified the decision to bring Nishant Kumar into active politics.
