
New Delhi, 5 January: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to begin on 9 January, with Delhi Capitals retaining right-handed batter Nikki Prasad for the upcoming season. Nikki has expressed her gratitude to the franchise for the confidence shown in her and is keen to deliver a strong performance for the team.
On being retained by Delhi Capitals, Nikki Prasad said, “I am very thankful to DC for retaining me and showing faith in my abilities. I still believe I can perform well on the field for the team. I am truly grateful and very happy to be retained.”
She further added, “Being retained and trusted by DC definitely boosts my confidence. It motivates me to give my best on the field. I am feeling very confident this season and look forward to performing at my best. I believe I am carrying that confidence into the team and onto the field.”
In IPL 2025, Nikki played eight matches for Delhi Capitals, scoring 78 runs at an average of 39 and taking five catches. Following her performances, the franchise retained her for IPL 2026 at a price of ₹50 lakh.
Under Nikki Prasad’s captaincy, India won the Women’s Under-19 World Cup in February 2025. Born on 25 October 2005, Nikki is not only a talented batter but also an impressive right-arm off-break bowler.
Delhi Capitals will commence their WPL 2026 campaign on 10 January, facing Mumbai Indians in their opening match.
