Mumbai, May 11: Maharashtra’s Sanjay Shirsat announced on Monday that the house where Nida Khan, the main accused in the high-profile TCS conversion case, was sheltered will soon face demolition. He indicated that this action could take place within the next couple of days.
Nida Khan, an employee at the TCS unit in Nashik, is accused of orchestrating the forced conversion of Hindu women. Following the revelation of the case, she remained in hiding for over a month. Recently, police apprehended her from a residence reportedly linked to an AIMIM municipal councilor.
Minister Shirsat emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that Khan had received shelter for 35 to 40 days. He stated that the AIMIM councilor who provided refuge also bears responsibility in this case.
Shirsat explained that the demolition is warranted because the construction of the councilor’s house is illegal. According to him, when the municipal corporation requested documentation for the property, the owner failed to present valid papers.
“The municipal corporation has issued a three-day notice to the councilor, and action will certainly be taken against that property,” Shirsat confirmed.
Nashik police arrested Nida Khan two days ago from the home of AIMIM councilor Mateen Patel, who has also been implicated for allegedly harboring her.
In the wake of these developments, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi came to Khan’s defense, asserting that she is being targeted due to her religious identity and that a media trial is underway. He further claimed that the accusations against her are weak and unsubstantiated.
In response, Shirsat launched a sharp critique against Owaisi, accusing AIMIM of promoting extremist and radical ideologies. He supported a statement by Nitesh Rane, who compared Owaisi to terrorist Osama bin Laden, although Shirsat suggested that calling Owaisi a “street vendor” would be more appropriate.
