NIA Files Chargesheet in Kishtwar Terror Attack Case Involving Pakistani Militants

Kishtwar, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet in a special court in Jammu regarding a terror attack that occurred in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. The document names the arrested suspect, Manir Ahmed, along with three deceased Pakistani militants.

Manir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yusuf Koli from Naidgam, Chatroo in Kishtwar district, is charged alongside the militants, including Saifullah, also known as Saifullah Kashmiri, Atik Nazir, and Atik ur Rahman. This case is linked to a terrorist attack that took place on February 22, 2026, in the Wani Mohalla area of Chatroo.

The NIA’s 535-page chargesheet provides a detailed account of the conspiracy, the roles of the three slain militants, and the actions of the arrested individual. It also presents evidence related to the case.

Ahmed is accused of harboring and concealing terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967. According to the NIA, these militants were involved in attacks against security forces and civilians in Kishtwar, a hilly district in Jammu and Kashmir.

The chargesheet includes allegations of waging war against India and plotting from across the border. The NIA states that the attack was orchestrated by three militants led by Saifullah, who was affiliated with the banned organization Jaish-e-Mohammad (JEM) and the Kashmir Tigers group. All three militants were killed during a counter-operation by security forces.

The investigation revealed that this group was active in the upper regions of Kishtwar and had conducted several attacks resulting in casualties among both security personnel and local residents. Manir Ahmed is accused of providing assistance to this terrorist group.

The NIA claims that the investigation, which lasted nearly five months, uncovered links to Pakistan. The agency has indicated that further inquiries are ongoing.
