NIA Files Charges Against Nine in Online Radicalization Case in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against nine individuals in an online radicalization case at a special NIA court in Vijayawada. The accused include Mohammad Rahmatullah Sharif, Mohammad Danish, Mirza Sohail Baig, Lucky Ahmed, Jishan Abdul Majid, Mir Asif Ali, Abdul Salam, Shahrukh Khan, and Sheikh Faizur Rahman, all allegedly connected to the terrorist organization ISIS.

In a statement released on Friday, the NIA noted that the charges were filed under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 2023, including Section 61(2) along with Sections 3(5) and 152, as well as Sections 13(1), 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The case initially emerged on March 23, 2026, when it was registered at the Vijayawada Second Town Police Station. The NIA’s investigation revealed that the accused were involved in a significant conspiracy to support ISIS activities. They aimed to establish a caliphate in India through violent jihad, thereby threatening the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The investigation further indicated that the accused had radicalized vulnerable youth to engage in violent terrorist acts. They allegedly planned and prepared for explosive manufacturing and weapons training. As part of this conspiracy, the accused developed and tested a secure communication application to secretly coordinate their activities.

The NIA’s statement concluded by stating that investigations against the remaining accused and other suspects are ongoing.
