New Delhi / Udaipur : A joint team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested 106 suspects since Thursday morning while raiding Popular Front of India (PFI) locations in 11 states even as an important meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah is underway in view of the raids.
Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra have seen the maximum number of arrests. Three people have been arrested from the capital Delhi, while eight people have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, NIA raided PFI President Parvez’s place in Delhi at 3:30 am and arrested him and his brother. Parvez, who lives in Okhla, has been associated with the PFI for a long time.
According to sources, this raid has been conducted this morning with the help of National Investigation Agency, Enforcement Directorate and State Police on the premises of Popular Front of India. The highest number of arrests were made in this raid in Kerala. Meanwhile, in a case registered earlier by the NIA, the investigating agency has sealed the Telangana PFI headquarters at Chandrayangutta in Hyderabad. Raids are also going on in Kodhwa area of Pune.
Apart from 22 people in Kerala, 20 people each have been arrested in Karnataka and Maharashtra during the raids. After this, the maximum 10 arrests have been made from Tamil Nadu. In the same sequence, 9 people were arrested from Assam, 8 from Uttar Pradesh, 5 from Andhra Pradesh, 4 from Madhya Pradesh while 3 each from Delhi and Puducherry. Two arrests have also been made from Rajasthan.
According to sources, NIA’s search operation is going on at PFI bases in Maharashtra as well. Some PFI leaders in Maharashtra have been detained by the NIA. There are serious allegations against PFI like inciting violence in the country, terrorists attacks, riots and terror funding. The connection of PFI with D company is also coming to the fore. NIA can also get strong evidence after investigation.
According to sources, Mohammad Wasim alias Bablu has been detained by the NIA from Indira Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow. The accused Wasim works as a sewing machine. Apart from this, four teams of NIA and ATS are conducting raids in UP.
