Guwahati, May 11: In a bid to improve punctuality, streamline operations, and enhance passenger convenience, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has revised the schedules of over 80 train services across its network. Officials announced this update on Sunday.
According to NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjol Kishore Sharma, the new timings for several additional mail, express, passenger, diesel electric multiple unit (DEMU), and long-distance train services have been effective since April 30, 2026.
The revised schedule includes over 80 train services and is part of ongoing efforts to enhance punctuality, streamline train operations, and provide greater convenience for passengers traveling to and from Assam, other northeastern states, and beyond.
The CPRO noted that the updated timetable features several important trains operating within the Northeast Frontier Railway zone. Key trains affected by the schedule changes include the Naharlagun-Guwahati Shatabdi Express, Anand Vihar-Agartala Tejas Rajdhani Express, Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Silchar-New Tinsukia Express, Guwahati-Dibrugarh Express, and Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Intercity Express.
Sharma mentioned that the revised schedule is now in effect at major stations, including Guwahati, Kamakhya, Lumding, New Haflong, Badarpur, Dibrugarh, New Tinsukia, Rangiya, Silchar, and Agartala.
To ensure better connectivity and smooth train operations across various segments of the zone, the timings of several passenger and DEMU services in Assam and Tripura have also been rescheduled.
According to Sharma, the revised timetable is expected to reduce operational delays, improve sectional operational time management, and ensure punctuality for both short-distance and long-distance travelers.
He further stated that these changes will help maintain better connectivity at major junctions and terminals while enhancing the overall efficiency of train operations in the Northeast Frontier Railway region.
Passengers are advised to confirm the revised train timings through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES), Passenger Reservation System (PRS) inquiry platforms, or at their nearest railway stations before commencing their journeys.
Headquartered in Maligaon near Guwahati, the Northeast Frontier Railway operates across the northeastern states, as well as in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of northern Bihar.
