New Zealand Hits Fastest T20 Century Against India in Just 8.1 Overs

Visakhapatnam: New Zealand created history in the fourth T20 match against India at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium by reaching a century in a mere 8.1 overs. This marks the fastest century by any team against India on Indian soil in T20 cricket.

The century is also New Zealand’s fastest against India in this format and ranks as the joint second-fastest T20 hundred against India by any team. Devon Conway scored 44 runs off 23 balls, including three sixes and four fours, before being dismissed. Tim Seifert contributed 62 runs from 36 balls, hitting three sixes and seven fours during his innings.

Conway and Seifert combined for a 100-run partnership in just 8.2 overs. This was the first century partnership for a New Zealand opening pair in T20 cricket since October 2022. Previously, Conway had shared a 117-run opening stand in 13.3 overs with Finn Allen against Pakistan on 11 October 2022.

Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team featured Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah. During the toss, it was revealed that Ishan Kishan was sidelined due to a minor injury, prompting Arshdeep Singh’s inclusion in the playing eleven.

The New Zealand squad, led by Mitchell Santner, included Tim Seifert (wicketkeeper), Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Jakari Falk, Matt Henry, Ish Sodhi, and Jacob Duffy. Jakari Falk replaced Kyle Jamieson in the lineup for this match.
