New Delhi to Host 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship in 2026

New Delhi, May 7: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the official hosting of the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 (CTTC 2026) from July 27 to August 2, 2026, at the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi.

The announcement was made at the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday, with the presence of Delhi government cabinet minister Ashish Sood, senior officials from the sports department, Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation President Vivek Kohli, advisor Brijesh Mathur, and other notable figures from the sports community, including Dronacharya Award winner Sandeep Gupta.

This championship, organized jointly by the Delhi government and the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), marks a significant return of top-tier international sporting events to the national capital. Players and representatives from over 35 Commonwealth nations, including England, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Scotland, Wales, Nigeria, Kenya, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, are expected to participate.

Considered one of the largest editions of the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship to date, the event will feature exciting matches across various categories, culminating in a grand final on August 2. Detailed information regarding tickets, volunteer participation, and the complete match schedule will be released in the coming months.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized Delhi’s long-standing history of successfully hosting world-class sporting events, stating that the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship will further enhance the capital’s position on the global sports map. She assured that the Delhi government is fully committed to providing world-class infrastructure and seamless arrangements for both players and spectators.

The Thyagaraj Stadium will serve as the main venue for the championship, equipped with modern facilities to offer a world-class experience for athletes and fans alike. This event will also showcase Delhi’s hosting capabilities, modern infrastructure, and vibrant sports culture on an international stage.

Gupta added that the Delhi government is continuously working to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote international sporting events in alignment with the ‘Vision 2036 Olympics’ mission.
