NEET Candidate from Nagpur Assigned Exam Center in Abu Dhabi: NTA Clarifies

New Delhi, June 20: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct a re-examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 across the country on June 21. However, a surprising development has emerged regarding a candidate from Nagpur, who has been allocated an exam center in Abu Dhabi.

In response, the NTA issued a clarification on Saturday via a post on the social media platform ‘X’. The agency explained that following the rescheduling of the NEET (UG) date to June 21, it reopened the facility for candidates to correct their exam city preferences.

The NTA reported that approximately 320,000 candidates utilized this correction facility, with over 99.5 percent receiving their preferred exam city allocation.

Regarding the Abu Dhabi case, the NTA noted that web activity records indicate the city change was made through the candidate’s registered login during the correction window, showing a consistent access pattern from a single user.

Despite the candidate selecting the Abu Dhabi center, the NTA received an informal request on the evening of June 19 (just 48 hours before the exam) to change the center back to Nagpur. NTA staff promptly initiated the change process and contacted the candidate’s father that evening to assist with the formalities.

During this time, the NTA observed that the candidate’s credentials were used to change the center to Abu Dhabi on three occasions, with the center being listed as Abu Dhabi twice. Nevertheless, the NTA accepted the candidate’s request and proceeded with the center change.

The agency emphasized in its post that its priority is to ensure that no candidate misses the exam due to administrative issues.
