Guwahati, May 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the NDA have once again placed their trust in Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam. During the NDA legislative party meeting, Sarma was unanimously elected as the leader. Newly elected BJP MLA Rameshwar Teli shared his thoughts on this development.
Teli stated that the NDA delegation met with the Governor alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to present their support. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend a grand swearing-in ceremony on May 12.
He emphasized that the BJP’s initiatives for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes have significantly contributed to the success of many candidates.
“Following our traditions and the provisions of the Constitution, we have chosen Himanta Biswa Sarma as our leader,” Teli remarked. He noted that Union Minister JP Nadda, Haryana Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, Sarma, and NDA legislators met with the Governor to submit a letter of support. The Governor has invited them to form the government, officially declaring Himanta Biswa Sarma as Chief Minister.
Teli highlighted the remarkable achievements of their government over the past decade under the leadership of Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. “We have accomplished feats that people never imagined. The public has rewarded us with a majority, allowing us to win 102 seats. In the last five years, we have also delivered on commitments that were not initially promised. There is much more to be done in Assam, with support from the central government,” he added.
He asserted that their government has made significant strides for the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, stating, “This time, we did not lose a single SC-ST seat. Over the past five years, our government has worked for all communities, which has benefited us in the elections.”
