Meerut, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is taking significant steps to enhance passenger services and expand business activities along the Nammo Bharat Corridor. On September 30, 2026, NCRTC announced the invitation for bids to select a licensee for leasing commercial space at the Bhainsali Station in Meerut. Over 400 square meters of prime commercial space will be available at the concourse level of the station. This high-traffic location is expected to accommodate a variety of business and passenger amenities.
Bhainsali Station is strategically located in one of Meerut’s key commercial areas, surrounded by densely populated residential neighborhoods and major markets such as Abu Lane, Lal Kurti Market, and Sadar Market. NCRTC anticipates that the available commercial space will be beneficial for retail, food and beverage outlets, coaching centers, offices, and other services.
According to NCRTC, the expansion of commercial activities within the station complex aims not only to increase revenue but also to provide passengers with essential services in one convenient location. Facilities such as food outlets, convenience stores, service centers, coaching centers, and offices can operate here. This will reduce the need for passengers to spend extra time traveling elsewhere for essential services. Residents and visitors near the station will also gain easier access to retail and other necessary services. NCRTC’s goal is to transform station complexes into vibrant, passenger-friendly hubs rather than mere transit points.
The location of Bhainsali Station enhances its significance for commercial activities. Situated on Delhi Road, this underground station is approximately one kilometer from the prominent Begampul area in Meerut. It is well-connected to the Delhi-Meerut Highway and the Meerut Expressway. Furthermore, the Meerut City Railway Station is in close proximity, and a bus stand right outside the station provides services to various cities, including Delhi, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Roorkee, and Haridwar. This connectivity between Nammo Bharat, Indian Railways, bus services, and road transport positions Bhainsali Station as a multi-modal transit point.
NCRTC reports that passenger numbers on the Nammo Bharat Corridor are steadily increasing. The corridor has surpassed 45 million commuter trips, with around 110,000 passengers traveling daily. Recently, a record of over 168,000 passengers was noted in a single day. The growing number of travelers also enhances the potential for commercial activities at Nammo Bharat stations. Utilizing the available space for commercial purposes is expected to provide passengers with better amenities while boosting local businesses and the service sector.
Bidders interested in leasing the commercial space at Bhainsali Station can participate in the e-tendering process. Detailed information regarding eligibility criteria, rules, and conditions related to the tender is available on NCRTC’s official website and the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE) portal. NCRTC aims to increase the participation of local entrepreneurs, retailers, and service providers through such initiatives, which could lead to improved passenger facilities, new job opportunities, and increased revenue from non-fare sources.
