NCP condemns Fadnavis’ statement

Aurangabad/Mumbai, March 3 : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday condemned the statement of leader of opposition Devendra Fadanvis who had claimed that the ruling Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA) Government was dedicated to fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Mr Fadnavis had made this statement while addressing the press. Chief Spokesperson of Maharashtra NCP Mahesh Tapase in his press release described Fadanvis’ statement as an insult to 11 crore citizens of Maharashtra. “The MVA comprising of the Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress is only committed to the Welfare of the people of Maharashtra, Time and again senior leaders of the BJP have tried to malign the image of MVA leaders which we have tedly defended. Interestingly when Mr Fadnavis was the chief Minister of Maharashtra his Minister Mr Girish Mahajan was seen attending a marriage function of Dawood Ibrahim’s close relative at Nashik,” he pointed out. The then CP of Nashik Mr Ravindra Singhal had instituted an internal enquiry which the BJP government never brought to light and took no action upon the report, he added. “Mr Fadanvis should explain why he did not take action and the resignation of Mr Mahajan for attending the marriage function of Dawood Ibrahim’s relative,” said Mr Tapase.
