Guwahati, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : A significant meeting focused on the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will take place in Guwahati on October 15. This high-level discussion aims to address key issues and enhance NCC activities in Northeast India, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
The conference will be chaired by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth. It will explore the challenges faced by the NCC in these regions and discuss strategies to strengthen the organization.
According to the Defence Ministry, the event will be led by NCC Director General Lieutenant General Virendra Vats. Senior representatives from the Defence Ministry, the NCC, and state governments will participate. Key topics for discussion include the expansion of NCC, cadet welfare, training arrangements, institutional strengthening, and administrative challenges. The conference will also emphasize improving coordination between the NCC and state governments.
Both parties will seek initiatives to increase NCC’s outreach to more youth and broaden the impact of its activities. The NCC plays a vital role in instilling discipline, responsibility, and leadership qualities among young people. It also enhances youth participation in society through social service and community development activities. With a presence in over 99% of the districts in the country, the NCC works to cultivate responsible citizens and encourage their involvement in nation-building.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the central and state governments. The upcoming conference in Guwahati is particularly crucial for improving NCC’s reach, training, and administrative structures in the Northeast, West Bengal, and Sikkim. Notably, NCC cadets made significant contributions during flood relief efforts this monsoon season.
From August 16 to 18, special medical campaigns were conducted in Assam’s Barhoiting, Chintamani Ghar, and Nimaijan, where local NCC cadets worked alongside the army and non-governmental organizations.
