Guwahati, 2 January: Namibia’s women’s cricket team will play a four-match white-ball series against Assam starting 8 January. This tour is part of a mutual agreement between the Assam Cricket Association and Cricket Namibia.
During the tour, Namibia will play two 50-over matches and two T20 games. The matches are scheduled from 8 to 11 January at MSA Stadium, Mangaldoi, and ACA Cricket Academy Ground, Fulong, North Guwahati.
Sunatan Das, Secretary of ACA, said in a statement on Friday, “This series is an important milestone for Assam cricket and will strengthen the sporting ties between India and Namibia. It offers a great platform for players of both teams to showcase their skills, competitiveness, and true spirit of the game.”
He added, “The Assam Cricket Association is eager to host this exciting series and promote a long-lasting sporting relationship with Cricket Namibia.”
According to the ACA schedule, the Namibia senior women’s team will arrive in Guwahati on 6 January. A practice session will be held on 7 January before the matches begin.
The first 50-over match between the two sides will take place on 8 January at the same venue, followed by the second one-day match on 9 January. The two T20 matches are set for 10 and 11 January. The Namibia team will return home on 12 January.
Earlier in 2025, Assam’s senior men’s team played a five-match one-day series from 18 June to 1 July. Additionally, the Assam senior women’s team toured Malaysia from 5 to 16 July last year, playing five one-day matches.
This tour will give Namibia’s team valuable experience of playing under pressure and an opportunity to improve their strategy, technique, and mental strength. Playing against Indian teams like Assam will provide exposure to different playing conditions.
