
Dubai, 3 January: Namibia has announced its 15-member cricket squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February-March. The all-rounder Gerhard Erasmus will captain the team.
The squad includes experienced players such as wicketkeeper-batsman Jean-Pierre Green, JJ Smit, Jan Frylinck, and Bernard Scholtz. Strengthening Namibia’s batting lineup are Nicol Loftie-Eaton, WP Myburgh, and Malan Kruger. Fast bowlers Ruben Trumpelman and Ben Shikongo have also been selected.
Cricket Namibia posted on X, “Our team is ready for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka. Best wishes to the team and management as they represent Namibia on the global stage. Fans, get ready. Travel packages to support the boys will be announced soon.”
Alexander Volshenk has been named as a reserve player.
This will be Namibia’s fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament. They have been placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, USA, and the Netherlands. Namibia’s opening match will be against the Netherlands on 10 February at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Their second game is against India on 12 February at the same venue. Further group matches include facing the USA on 15 February in Chennai and Pakistan on 18 February at the Singhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
The 20-team tournament will be hosted across eight venues in India and Sri Lanka over 29 days, with five venues in India and three in Sri Lanka.
In India, matches will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), M.A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Arun Jaitley Stadium (New Delhi), Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), and Eden Gardens (Kolkata). In Sri Lanka, venues include R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), Singhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (Colombo), and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Kandy).
