Nalanda University to Host Third Graduation Ceremony on May 19, 219 Graduates from Various Countries to Receive Degrees

Rajgir, May 18: Nalanda University, located in Rajgir, Bihar, is set to hold its third graduation ceremony on May 19. All preparations for the event have been finalized. The ceremony will take place in the newly constructed 2000-seat ‘Vishwamitra Hall.’

Dr. P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, will be the chief guest. The Governor of Bihar, Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.), will also be present, along with Rudrendra Tandon, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs, as a special guest.

The university has decided to hold the graduation ceremony just nine days after the conclusion of examinations. This timely event reflects the university’s strong commitment to promptly confer degrees, thereby enhancing the academic and professional pathways for its students. A total of 219 graduates from the 2024-26 batch will receive their degrees during the ceremony.

These graduates represent 14 different countries, including Vietnam, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Myanmar, symbolizing Nalanda University’s international reputation and diverse academic environment.

To honor academic excellence, eight outstanding students will be awarded gold medals, seven of whom are female. This recognition serves as an encouraging sign of the progress and achievements of female students at the university. Following the graduation ceremony, the chief guest will also inaugurate the ‘Kautilya Center for Capacity Building’ at Nalanda University.

Additionally, prior to the graduation, the university hosted its first-ever Shastrarth, aimed at reviving the tradition of argumentation, evidence, dialogue, and the quest for truth inherent in Indian philosophical thought, in conjunction with modern academic practices. This initiative is seen as an effort to restore the vibrant spirit of the guru-shishya tradition.
