Siliguri, April 15 : Northeast Frontier Railway has registered 60 percent growth in freight loading as it carried 1.204 MT during March, 2022. This was an increase of over 60 pc in comparison to the corresponding period of last year. N. F. Railway loaded 10.387 MT during the period from April, 2021 to March, 2022 as compared to 7.683 MT done in corresponding period of last year. This was also an increase of 35.2 pc growth, a NFR release said on Friday. During March, 2022, coal loading was increased by 1690.9 pc and some other commodities also increased by a considerable margin in comparison to corresponding period of last year. During the month, dolomite loading increased by 104.8 pc, fertilizer loading increased by 120 pc, POL loading increased by 16.1 pc, container loading increased by 10 pc and loading of other commodities increased by 42.8 pc. During the fiscal year from April, 2021 to March, 2022, coal loading increased by 138.4 pc, dolomite freight increased by 170.8 pc in comparison to previous fiscal year. Food grains loading increased by 8.4 pc, fertiliser loading increased by 21.4 pc, container loading increased by 57.1 pc and other commodities increased by 83.8 pc. Freight transportation by railways was covering new boundaries as it provides the most economical and environment friendly mode for transportation of goods (perishable & non-perishable) available for customers.
