N. Chandrababu Naidu to Launch Google AI Data Center in Visakhapatnam on April 28

Visakhapatnam, April 27: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the Google AI Data Center in Visakhapatnam on April 28.

According to officials, Google is set to invest $15 billion in this project, marking one of the largest foreign direct investments in India’s history. The data center will be developed over approximately 600 acres in the Tharluwada, Adaviram, and Rambilli areas, with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt.

An official statement released on Sunday indicated that this AI data center will represent a historic achievement for India’s technology sector and signal the dawn of a new era for Andhra Pradesh’s tech landscape.

With this state-of-the-art facility, Visakhapatnam is poised to emerge as a major AI gateway for Asia, securing its place on the global technology map. The statement emphasized that this prestigious project will position Visakhapatnam among the world’s leading technology hubs.

The upcoming subsea cable connectivity system will soon connect Visakhapatnam digitally with several countries. This data center will provide advanced AI cloud infrastructure along with extensive data storage capabilities.

Visakhapatnam’s coastal location makes it highly suitable for an international submarine cable landing station. Companies like Adani Connex and Airtel Xtra are partners in this project. The government aims to establish a multi-gigawatt digital hub across the state, with a total capacity of 6.5 gigawatts.

In addition to infrastructure, the Google data center is expected to create significant employment opportunities. Thousands of jobs are likely to be generated in fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud operations, maintenance, cybersecurity, cloud architecture, and data science. Revenue generated from the data centers will further strengthen the state’s economy.

With Google AI cloud services, Visakhapatnam is likely to emerge as a prominent technology center in Asia. AI-based companies may also choose this city as their destination. IT startups, research centers, cloud companies, and semiconductor firms are expected to establish operations in the region.

The government is ensuring a green energy supply for the data centers proposed by Google and other tech companies. The statement further noted that with global companies focusing on Visakhapatnam, upcoming world-class infrastructure like the Bhogapuram International Airport will enhance the city’s global appeal.
