Muslims in Karauli targeted by Sangh riots : Owaisi alleges

Hyderabad, April 15 : All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and MP, Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday alleged that Muslims in Karauli in Rajasthan were not only targeted by Sangh riots but they also faced harassment by the police and administration of Gehlot government. Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Owaisi said the Minister of Rajasthan government said that a total of 80 shops were burnt in Karauli, out of which 73 belonged to Muslims. But according to the BJP, only Hindus were harmed in Karauli, he added. At Karauli, over 30 people were injured in the violence on April 2 after a bike rally being carried out to mark Hindu New Year was pelted with stones in a Muslim-dominated area. “Of the 80 shops that were burnt in the violence, 73 belonged to the Muslim comm ty. But it was portrayed that most shops belonged to the Hindus,” according to Rajasthan Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh. KNR CS1549
