Mumbai, February 8: The Kurar unit of the Mumbai Police has achieved a significant success in its ongoing campaign against foreign nationals residing illegally in India. Police conducted a raid in the Pathanwadi area of Malad East and arrested four Bangladeshi nationals. Reports indicate that these individuals had been living in the country for an extended period using fake identities.
According to police, the Anti-Terror Cell (ATC) officer at the Kurar police station received information about some Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing in the Pathanwadi area of Malad East, using forged documents to establish local identities. Acting on this information, the Kurar police and ATC team launched a joint operation, conducting multiple raids in the area between February 2 and February 6.
During the operation, four suspects were detained at the scene. Upon interrogation, all admitted to being citizens of Bangladesh. Initial investigations revealed that they possessed several important documents related to Bangladesh, including permanent residency certificates, citizenship certificates, and a national ID card.
The police investigation uncovered that all arrested individuals had been living in the Pathanwadi area of Malad East, engaging in small businesses. Authorities stated that all suspects had entered India without valid documents and had been residing here for a long time. Legal action has been initiated against them, and the process of obtaining a ‘Restriction Order’ from the relevant authorities is underway, with deportation procedures to Bangladesh already initiated.
DCP Mahesh Chimte and Senior Police Inspector Sanjeev Tawde oversaw this operation. The Kurar police’s actions are being regarded as a significant success in the fight against illegal immigration.
