New Delhi, April 5: The Mumbai Indians (MI) faced a disappointing 6-wicket loss against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This defeat has left MI fans disheartened. However, they praised DC’s batsman Sameer Rizvi, who narrowly missed his first IPL century by just 10 runs.
Played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, MI batted first, scoring 162 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Rohit Sharma contributed 35 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav added 51 runs to the total.
In response, DC secured victory in 18.1 overs, thanks to impressive performances from Sameer Rizvi and Pathum Nissanka. Nissanka scored 44 runs off 30 balls, while Rizvi dazzled with 90 runs off 51 balls, including 7 sixes and 7 fours.
MI fan Akanksha expressed her disappointment, stating, “Even though MI lost this match, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav played brilliantly. I enjoyed their innings. Once they got out, the match became boring for me.”
Parvinder Singh Gill shared his thoughts, saying, “We came here to support Mumbai Indians, but our hearts broke with this loss. The match was one-sided and not enjoyable to watch. Bumrah also failed to make an impact. However, Sameer Rizvi has been impressive in both matches.”
Devendra Singh added, “I came to support Delhi Capitals. Rizvi’s batting was outstanding, and Axar Patel showed excellent captaincy. MI struggled to maintain control in this match. Even though Delhi lost two wickets early, Rizvi turned the game in DC’s favor.”
Ram, another MI supporter, said, “I’m a fan of Mumbai Indians, but my favorite team couldn’t win this match. I had high hopes for Rohit Sharma. However, Delhi Capitals claimed victory. Rohit should have been on the field throughout the match; his absence was detrimental to MI.”
