MPs to move privilege motion against police

New Delhi, March 24 : Congress MPs from Kerala on Thursday said they will move a privilege motion against Delhi Police after accusing its personnel of misbehaving with them, including women, both outside and inside Parliament. Members of the Congress from Kerala had gathered at Vijay Chowk, near the Parliament House, to protest against the K-Rail Silver Line project in their state. Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, Congress member Suresh Kodikunnil said the MPs marched towards Parliament. “But Delhi Police, without any provocation, came forward and blocked us. We said we are MPs and we are going to Parliament. They said you were raising slogans. “They assaulted us, pushed us, manhandled us, and also brutally attacked our members. We were not doing anything provocative. They were aware we are MPs but they did not allow us to enter. They entered Parliament premises and attacked us,” he said. RSP’s N K Premchandran said it wass a matter of breach of privilege and urged Speaker Om Birla to take action. Birla said he had been informed about the matter and he would hold discussions with the MPs and take appropriate action. Dean Kuriakose, V K Sreekandan and Hibie Eden were among those who were hurt, the MPs said. AO MR
