MP Parth Pawar Urges Central Government to Enhance Pune-Daund Rail Services

Pune, June 23: Rajya Sabha MP Parth Ajit Pawar has called on the central government for immediate action regarding passenger issues on the Pune-Daund rail route. He has written to the relevant authorities addressing these concerns.

In his letter, Pawar requested the initiation of electric suburban (local) train services between Daund and Pune, improvements to DEMU services, the development of Daund Junction, and approval for the ‘Green Zone’ project in Daund. The letter also referenced a request made by Durga Devi Indrajit Jagdale, the chairperson of the Daund Municipal Council, on May 26, 2026.

The letter emphasized that the Pune-Daund rail route is considered a lifeline for thousands of passengers. Students, professionals, women, senior citizens, farmers, and industrial workers travel this route daily. Despite the availability of necessary infrastructure, suburban services have yet to commence, forcing passengers to rely on DEMU trains.

According to passenger complaints, there is significant overcrowding on trains, irregular schedules, and frequent delays, causing considerable inconvenience.

In light of these issues, MP Parth Pawar has stressed the urgent need to launch electric local services between Daund and Pune. He also requested the development of better facilities for passengers at Daund Junction and approval for the ‘Namo Udyan’ project to create a green zone on vacant railway land.

It is noteworthy that Parth Pawar is a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra, elected unopposed in April 2026. He was sworn in as a member of the upper house of Parliament following his election. Previously, he contested the Maval Lok Sabha seat in 2019 but faced defeat.
