Jaipur, October 12 — The onset of winter has begun to make its presence felt across Rajasthan, with chilly mornings and evenings now being experienced in most parts of the state. Due to cold winds blowing from the north, minimum temperatures have dropped below 20°C in several cities, while clear skies during the day kept conditions mildly warm.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, active northerly winds are responsible for the ongoing dip in night temperatures. Cities such as Jaipur, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Hanumangarh, Alwar, and Churu have started witnessing cool breezes during the night. Experts predict that from next week, the wind intensity will weaken slightly, leading to a gradual rise in temperatures and a temporary reduction in the chill.
Udaipur Records Coldest Night at 16.4°C
On Saturday, Udaipur recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 16.4°C. In Nagaur, Sikar, Pilani, and Pratapgarh, the mercury hovered around 17°C. Jaipur recorded a minimum of 19.7°C, while Sriganganagar and Karauli saw lows close to 19°C.
Daytime temperatures also showed slight variation, with Barmer being the warmest at 35.8°C. In Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, and Jodhpur, the maximum temperature ranged between 33°C and 35°C, whereas Jaipur, Kota, Baran, and Dausa recorded highs between 31°C and 32°C.
Early Onset of Winter Likely
The weather office noted that recent rains, combined with moisture in the atmosphere and northeast winds, have kept temperatures 2 to 7 degrees below normal. The dry air and cooler nights have made the early winter chill more noticeable.
Meteorologists believe that winter may arrive earlier than usual this year, with a stronger likelihood of cold drizzle (Mavath) and cold waves during November and December.
