New Delhi: On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a prayer meeting held at Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi. He described Gandhi’s life as a source of hope for millions.
After the prayer meeting, Prime Minister Modi shared some pictures from the event on the social media platform X, stating that he had attended the prayer gathering at Gandhi Smriti.
The Prime Minister said, “Bapu’s life is a source of hope for millions. His efforts changed the course of our freedom struggle and left an indelible mark on India’s journey, the impact of which is felt across generations.”
He also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and said that Gandhi’s eternal ideals continue to guide the nation’s path. Modi reaffirmed the country’s commitment to Gandhi’s principles and to building an India based on justice, harmony, and service to humanity.
Earlier, on Gandhi’s 78th death anniversary, the Prime Minister had paid tribute on social media by writing, “My heartfelt salutations to the Father of the Nation on his death anniversary. Revered Bapu always emphasized Swadeshi, which is the foundation of our resolve for a developed and self-reliant India. His personality and deeds will always inspire citizens to follow the path of duty.”
Modi highlighted Gandhi’s unwavering emphasis on non-violence as a powerful force capable of changing the world without weapons. He quoted, “Ahimsa Paramo Dharmah” (Non-violence is the highest duty) and “Ahimsa Param Satya Yato Dharmah Pravartate” (Non-violence is the supreme truth from which dharma originates).
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by offering floral tributes at the statue of Gandhi located in GPO Park, Lucknow. The event was held in a respectful atmosphere where the Chief Minister garlanded the statue and honoured Bapu.
