
New Delhi: On the eve of Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the list of Padma award winners for the year 2026. Following the announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to all the recipients.
Posting on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said, “Heartfelt congratulations to all Padma awardees for their outstanding contributions to the nation. Their talent, dedication, and service in diverse fields enhance our society. This honour reflects a spirit of commitment and excellence that continues to inspire generations.”
Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh also took to X to salute the distinguished individuals honoured with Padma awards for their significant contributions across various sectors, which have brought pride and respect to the country.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, President Droupadi Murmu approved the names of 131 Padma awardees for 2026. The list includes 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees. Among them, 19 are women. The list also features six persons from foreign, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories and 16 posthumous awardees.
The Padma Vibhushan recipients include Dharmendra Singh Deol (posthumous), K.T. Thomas, N. Rajam, P. Narayanan, and V.S. Achuthanandan (posthumous). The Padma Bhushan awardees feature Alka Yagnik, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Kallipatti Ramasamy Palaniswami, Mammootty, Dr. Nori Dattatreyaudu, Vijay Amritraj, Piyush Pandey (posthumous), S.K.M. Mayilandan, Shatavadhani R. Ganesh, former Chief Minister Shibu Soren (posthumous), Uday Kotak, V.K. Malhotra (posthumous), and Vellapalli Natesan.
