Chennai, May 5: MK Stalin has expressed gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu for their support in the recent assembly elections. He emphasized that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will continue to raise the voice of the public as a robust opposition.
Addressing voters and party workers, Stalin stated that every vote cast in favor of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) is a “precious expression of trust.”
According to available data, the DMK alliance received over 15.4 million votes. Stalin interpreted this as a clear indication of the public’s confidence in the party. He noted that the difference between the DMK alliance and the victorious front was just 1.743 million votes (approximately 3.52%), reflecting the party’s strong grassroots support.
He urged the newly elected legislators of the alliance to personally thank voters in their respective constituencies. “In democracy, the public is paramount, and we engage in politics for them,” he asserted.
Recalling the party’s long history, Stalin remarked that the DMK has experienced both victories and defeats, having formed the government in Tamil Nadu six times. He stressed that maintaining the party’s ideology is more crucial than electoral results.
Stalin praised party workers as the “lifeline of the movement” and expressed confidence that their dedication will propel the party forward. He affirmed that the DMK will continue to uphold the principles of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, C.N. Annadurai, and M. Karunanidhi.
He assured that whether in power or in opposition, the party remains committed to social justice, language, and regional identity. “As the opposition, we will strongly raise the voice of the people and fight for their rights,” Stalin declared.
